The purchase of summer crops of 225-6 will be undertaken under the Central Price Support Scheme (PSS), which is active when the market rate below MSP comes down.
Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan approved the proposal to buy crops under PSS to protect the interest of the farmers. The ministers approved the 15 -day expansion of the purchase period in Andhra Pradesh till June 26.
In order to promote the farmers, to increase the production of domestic pulse and reduce import dependence, the government has allowed the production of 5 percent tours, Urad and lentils under PSS in 224-55. The program has been extended for another four years by 2028-29.
Purchase under the PSS is undertaken by the Central Nodal Agency National Agricultural Cooperative Marketing Federation of India (NAFED) and the Federation of India (NCCF) of National Co -operative Customers.
